Take Action! It's Really That Easy

Last month at the launch of the Anybody Can Serve... So, Let's Conserve campaign I picked up a simple steps door hangar.  It included a lot of inexpensive, really easy and quite simple steps you can use to save energy and reduce your utility bills - and no it doesn't involve installing solar panels!

         SIMPLE STEPS TOWARDS ENERGY EFFICIENCY

  • Change incandescent light bulbs to energy efficient ones;
  • Run your dishwashers only when it’s full;
  • Use a low flow energy head in your shower;
  • Wash your clothes in cold water;
  • Make sure to your water heater is insulated;
  • Do not allow the thermostat to exceed 120 F;
  • Turn off and unplug electronics when they are not in use;
  • Weatherize your home;
  • Clean dirty air condition filters and keep them clean;
  • Adjust your heater thermostat down two degrees in the winter and increase it by two degrees in the summer; and
  • Buy energy efficient appliances.

Anybody Can Serve... So, Let's Conserve

About Anybody Can Serve's Strategy

Finally, saving our planet means saving money too.

Anybody Can Serve is a national grassroots campaign focused on educating people about the financial and environmental benefits of becoming more energy efficient. Beyond buying a hybrid or purchasing reusable shopping bags, we strive to educate people about the simple things that can be done around the house and in the office to reduce energy consumption. By encouraging people to take small, consistent steps towards energy preservation, we hope to help Americans solve our current economic and environmental crises.

The Anybody Can Serve campaign was launched on Friday, January 9, 2009. During the launch event, January 19, 2009, was announced as a National Day of Utility Service in recognition of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. On this day and on each day thereafter, we asked that Americans engage in simply acts of utility service that benefit their bank accounts, homes, offices, and communities.

Did you miss the launch that started it all?  No sweat.  You can catch up here:
